April-May,1997. Both classes of first year students again this year did an exercise on the tidepools at Race Rocks. It is clear that the conditions of the pools vary widely, and we are currently planning to get a more regularized monitoring method. Our students are still working on their reports for this lab they will be included here later. In the photo above Manu and Hernan measure Salinity.
David, Hernan Manueli and Sophie work on tidepool #2
Kristin examining pool #6
Salinity measurements, temperature, depth and organisms are all noted
Harpacticoids, small reddish colored crustaceans are predictably found in pools # 2, 7 , and 8"; all pools in the upper reaches, flooded only by surges and extreme high tides.
