Alan MacLeod, Andrew Harcombe, Jan Brown, [All are members of Bird Studies Canada] went out in the Pearson College Boat to do the census with Garry Fletcher. See photos below taken by PB from the remote camera as we left the island.
We get the hardest time of year to do the Christmas bird count..This year was no exception. We were not able to land at the jetty at Race Rocks and the ocean was so stirred up by the easterly of the previous night that the viewing was uncomfortableand the numbers were low. Weather conditions affect the distribution of birds and mammals considerably. See the records of the weather for the week below:

The weather taken from the remote camera just following our return from the island. The gulls that we couldn't count from the boat.. a mixture of Thayer's, Mew and Glaucous.
