Succession (Fouling) Studies			Pearson College –EnCana-- Clean Current Tidal Power Demonstration Project

				In the spring of 2005, a set of plates made up of 5 different materials and coatings was deployed in the centre of the main channel, straight out from the docks at Race Rocks. This is one of the replicates, removed for scraped samples on Nov. 9,2005. Plate numbers are on linked enlargement. The make up of the coatings will be supplied separately.
			Plate 1 Filamentous algae and grazed diatoms on plate 1. microscopic images were taken at 100X Plate 2 A mix of diatoms and red algae on Plate 2. The small black dot is a baby chiton which is one of many small invertebrates that graze diatoms. Plate 3 There was extreme rust on this edges of this coated plate. Plate 4 This video shows a variety of diatoms and brown embryo macroalgae on plate 4. Plate 5 Red filamentous algae growing among diatoms on plate 5.
