Background : In 2007 The Solar Energy Project was started at Race Rocks as the result of a grant from the British Columbia Ministry of Mines and Energy .

The Xantrex Hybrid Power Monitoring System is designed to provide current and past records of the level of photovoltatic energy contribution to the Race Rocks Integrated Energy System. The energy from the solar panels is distributed to the three circuits on the island.
Circuit 1 powers the Island Guardians house. |
| On Feb. 23 2007, the electricity being generated from the solar cells was linked into the integrated Energy System | These first three graphs were captured that day, showing the startup times. | |

| Circuit 1 contributes power to the Island Guardians house. | Circuit 2 contributes power to the Science centre, (network router, switch and several computers). | Circuit 3 contributes power to the Light tower and the Boathouse. |
