NEW
Curriulum applications.
Curriculum ideas for developing a taxonomy as part of "Ecosystem Structural analysis" are now part of the new OceanQuest resources. See this section on Biotic Structure of Ecosystems which provides curriculum materials.
Please note: this taxonomy is based on a number of published schemes for classification. See the bottom of the taxalab page for links to several ways of classification of the organisms. Remember - taxonomic systems are Scientific Models, so they undergo continual change as new scientific information on the phylogeny of organisms is discovered. We welcome any suggestions for improvements of our identifications and classifications.
Taxonomy File Project for other Ecosystems

This file gives a template for students who wish to do a project like our Taxalab assignment in other Ecosystems. A teacher's lesson plan is linked.
In the design of the Race Rocks Taxonomy , I have been able to rely on the freely available JavaScript DHTML code supplied by Andy Wooley of Milonic. The availability of such free assistance on the web has been essential to the building of this website .
