Sylvia Roach worked as the Laboratory Technician at Lester B. Pearson College from the early 1980's until her retirement from the faculty of the college in 2006. In that time she had expanded her areas of expertise to cover audio visual and computer assistance. She was a valuable addition to the science faculty as well as the rest of the college. Sylvia conducted many of the field labs at Race Rocks for the Biology and Environmental Systems students throughout her time at Pearson College. We relied on her vast wealth of knowledge in botany for the study of the macroalgae, and her expertise in invertebrate identification to help students doing transect work on the field trips. She also devoted many hours to the help of students with their Group 4 science projects and extended essays in Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Environmental Systems. Thanks from Students and Faculty for your expert assistance Sylvia!
We welcome questions, suggestions and feedback on the racerocks.com website. Since 1997, Lester B. Pearson College has managed the Island for BC Parks. It depends on resources we have to raise independently, specifically designated for Race Rocks, in order to keep the island facility open..
