Haliclystus movieHaliclystus, the stalked jelly fish is found in eel-grass beds (Zoster sp.) at the southern end of Vancouver Island. This particular specimen came from the beds near Swordfish Island, close to Race Rocks. At Race Rocks, the other marine angiosperm or flowering plant, the Surf Grass, Phyllospadix scouleri, is the only marine grass found. This is largely because of the different environmental factors. Eel grass prefers shallow sandy bottomed inlets with some current and it cannot withstand the pounding surf of the rocky coast.
