These harpacticoids were filmed through a microscope, the length of one animal is 0.5mm. They are a member of the Copepod Family and they typically inhabit the mid-upper tidepools between March and September. At times they are very concentrated in the pools, especially those pools with an elevated temperature.
We find them consistently in tidepools #2,#3,#4,and #10. they are present in pools # 7 and #8 in the early summer but not in the late summer since the salinity increases considerably. (80 ppt) . They are visible to the naked eye, and they move very quickly. To isolate them for this video, we had to reduce the drop of water on the microscope slide thereby restricting movement.
