materials testing In December of 2007,The Pearson College Divers installed a set of junction boxes as part of a materials testing experiment for the tidal energy project.
At Lester B. Pearson College there are 35 students in the Diving activity and several faculty who also are divers. The PADI Advanced Open Water SCUBA Course is completed by the end of the students' first year. Diving at Race Rocks requires a good level of expertise since the currents are very strong and surface conditions may change quickly. The divers help with a number of educational applications, including: installing and maintaining the underwater environmental sensors , assisting with maintenance and monitoring of the tidal energy project, facilitating research for outside scientists and do some underwater documentation and video work. Chris Blondeau is the faculty member in charge of the Diving Activity.
