Prasiola meridionalis (Setchell and Gardner)

 

Description: This plant is a dirty green colour, generally occurring in dense stands.  The mature plant has a short, narrow uniserate or multiserate basal region, but expands rapidly above into a broad flat blade once cell in thickness; at maturity it is up to 1.5 cm. high and 1 cm. broad.

 

Habitat:  In spray zone, just above the intertidal zone, usually on exposed rocks (often bird rocks); occasionally in the upper intertidal zone.

 

Pacific Coast Distribution:  Alaska to California.
