| On May 2 we received this photo taken with the remote camera 5 of an adult and juvenile bald eagle on the Environment Canada anemometer on top of the lighthouse at Race Rocks. This is typical of the unique images sent to us by Pam Birley from Leicestershire, England who is a regular contributor to the racerocks.com website. She writes: "The lower eagle was there for hours but the top one had flown away after having its ride on the anemometer." He was enjoying looking around without the trouble of turning himself .. I would have liked to take video of him riding from side to side, it was quite amusing!" We include links to Pam's monthly albums of photos on our Daily Log.
Perhaps this urge to demonstrate from the top of the Light House was brought on by the passage of the Heritage Lighthouse Protection Bill S-215 yesterday in the House of Commons in Ottawa??
Today's picture was a classic however and it warranted a further investigation to see whether the Environment Canada weather records were enhanced by this rendezvous. Note the time of the picture above and the events on the weather graph below. There seems to be a wind direction shift at that time, but fortunately the wind speed was low or there may have been a few ruffled feathers.
Thats our microwave dish on the lower left which connects the Race Rocks with the internet at Pearson College.
